What will Kentucky Book Festival visitors find on your table?
They’ll find copies of my young adult romantic comedies, Wild About You, Not Here to Stay Friends, and Love from Scratch. All three are set in a different reality TV environment—from a cooking show to an Amazing Race-style competition in the wilderness—and follow two characters finding love in those chaotic circumstances. I’ll also have bookmarks and stickers that relate to the books!
Whom do you invite to stop by? Who will benefit from reading your book?
While young adult romance is primarily about and for teenagers, adults of all ages also read and love YA! So anyone who loves a fun love story with a dash of humor and coming-of-age angst should come by and see if my books interest them. I do think teens in particular benefit from reading about young people having similar experiences to their own, still finding themselves while falling in love and learning how to have a healthy relationship. But in my opinion, everyone benefits from reading romance novels, which celebrate love in all its forms and guarantee a happy ending!
Could you please tell us something curious about you and/or your book?
Wild About You is set on the part of the Appalachian Trail that runs through Great Smoky Mountains National Park, but its main character, Natalie, is a Kentucky girl like me! She references places that’ll be familiar to Kentucky readers, like Red River Gorge, and a lot of her hiking and camping experiences are informed by my own hiking and camping in the Gorge.
Is this your first time participating in Kentucky Book Festival? If yes – what are you looking forward to the most? If you’ve participated before – what was your favorite experience at the Festival?
This is my third time participating in the festival, and I’m so excited to come back! It’s always been so much fun to meet new readers and see familiar faces I met the year before. Book people are the best people!
