Donna Sloane 

Donna Slone is a Lexington-based poet, journalist, quilter and photographer who was born and grew up in Jackson, Kentucky, at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. After a career teaching college English and journalism, ending in healthcare education, Donna wrote the book “Mooch: In his own words” at least 25 years ago and shared it with faculty and participants at the renown Iowa Writers’ Workshop who encouraged her to publish it. As she says, “life got in the way,” and Mooch lay in her creative writing folders until friends and family who had known the famous Mooch helped her find the perfect illustrator, Sevgi Master. Master brought the antics of the Bassett Hound and his friends of Breathitt County to life in colorful images.
