Meet Lucie MacDonald, a 2023 KBF volunteer!

October 30, 2023

We appreciate our volunteers and want to learn more about them. We asked Lucie MacDonald to answer several questions.

1.      Please tell us something about yourself.

Retired, former Joseph-Beth Bookseller.  Also, worked circulation at the Lexington Herald-Leader and wrote book reviews. Last ten working years were spent as an adjunct instructor at BCTC, teaching web and graphic design software.

2.      What was your involvement with KBF23?

Book-setting on Friday, author wrangling in the afternoon on Saturday.  Was my fifth (?) year to volunteer.  I love the exercise, being back at JB, the energy, the people, the overall “book love” everywhere.  Also, love meeting authors.  Wrangling is FUN!

3.      We are deeply grateful for the gift of your energy and time. What did the experience give to you?

The Book Fair is always something to look forward to.  It brings me lots of joy to be surrounded again by books and book-lovers, to share their appreciation of just “being there”, and the work is fun.

4.      Did you have a favorite book from the 2023 festival?

“Lark Ascending” – Silas House.  It’s our choice for Book Club selection this month.  He’s promised to meet with us if he can.   Pretty compelling so far!
