Administrative Coordinator, Kentucky Book Festival

Employer: Kentucky Humanities

Job Type: Contract, up to 20 hours per week

Start Date: Immediately

Pay: $20 per hour

 

 Overview

Kentucky Humanities is an independent, nonprofit affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Kentucky Humanities has been “Telling Kentucky’s Story” for 51 years, celebrating and nourishing history, culture, arts and letters, philosophy, and other distinctly human endeavors throughout the Commonwealth and beyond. Kentucky Humanities is supported by the National Endowment and by private contributions.

Kentucky Humanities seeks an administrative coordinator for the Kentucky Book Festival (KBF), an annual program of Kentucky Humanities. This role is being created to address the expanding popularity—and attendant workload—of the Festival, Kentucky’s oldest and largest public literary celebration.

 

Responsibilities

The administrative coordinator will work closely with the KBF director across a variety of roles, including:

  • Manage social media, website, and other public communications.
  • Assist in engaging prospective authors for the Festival
  • Coordinate Festival volunteer corps
  • Assist with arranging Festival programming, planning, and scheduling
  • Coordinate author travel, lodging, and hospitality
  • Create and solicit media and marketing opportunities
  • Fulfill requirements of peripheral programs such as KBF School Days
  • Create informational content for Festival guests, authors, and volunteers
  • Coordinate supply and logistical requirements generated as the Festival approaches

 

Schedule

Work is on site at the offices of Kentucky Humanities. Must be fully available during the week of 28th of October.

 

Qualifications

  • Superior written and verbal communication abilities
  • Agility in multitasking without sacrificing attention to detail
  • Involvement with Kentucky’s literary community
  • Hunger for knowledge
  • Affection for improvement
  • Familiarity with basic office software
  • Comfort with website maintenance and visual design software
