Bayou

What will Kentucky Book Festival visitors find on your table?

On my table, visitors will find five (5) different novels, all written in what I call realistic fiction. While the characters and storylines vary greatly, all my words endeavor to present portraits of everyday people (the good, the bad, and the ugly) in scenes that every reader can relate to. In other words, there are no super heroes, moon goddesses, or animals who intrigue to take over the world.

Whom do you invite to stop by? Who will benefit from reading your book?

I invite any and all readers and friends of literature to stop by my table. Anyone who wants to read about realistic people in situations that may well evoke memories of the reader’s own past should benefit from/enjoy reading any/all of my novels. Another group that might well benefit from reading a Chris Helvey book would be any writer aspiring to be published. Over the years my words have found homes in numerous literary reviews and journals, and with three separate publishers, so there has to be something that works in my characters, scenes, storylines.

Could you please tell us something curious about you and/or your book?

As for something curious about me and/or Bayou, let’s say that in addition to being a writer, I am an editor and publisher (of Trajectory Journal, a semi-annual literary review).

Is this your first time participating in Kentucky Book Festival? If yes – what are you looking forward to the most? If you’ve participated before – what was your favorite experience at the Festival?

I have participated in the Kentucky Book Fair before and my favorite experiences have been meeting with other authors and readers, talking about literature, our lives, and how we can make both better.
