Loud Water

What will Kentucky Book Festival visitors find on your table?

My debut novel Loud Water, but I will alsohave a few DVD’s of my feature films.

Whom do you invite to stop by? Who will benefit from reading your book?

Those who like crime mixedwith literary pretension (I tried to write crime so it wasn’t fast food, more of a savory meal).

Could you please tell us something curious about you and/or your book?

I came to writing novels late, after making movies and directing and writing plays. Secret skill: I can put in an electric panel box andactually get it to pass inspection!

Is this your first time participating in Kentucky Book Festival? If yes – what are you looking forward to themost? If you’ve participated before – what was your favorite experience at the Festival?

I look forward tomeeting and engaging with other Kentucky writers. I’m a big supporter of arts and culture in our state.

About the Author

A recent convert to fiction writing with an M.F.A. from NYU’s graduate film school and several writing and directing credits for PBS documentaries, Robby Henson currently teaches screenwriting at the University of Kentucky and is the Artistic Director of Pioneer Playhouse, where he runs their outreach program Voices Inside that instructs incarcerated writers in writing and performance skills to fight recidivism. His debut novel, Loud Water, details the gritty and redemptive story of Crit Poppwell and his unsettling paroled return to Breathitt County after a prison awakening to the healing power of art and creativity.
