The Stone Catchers

What will Kentucky Book Festival visitors find on your table?
Visitors will find The Stone Catchers, some chocolate stones, bookmarks, and me!

Whom do you invite to stop by? Who will benefit from reading your book?
I invite anyone who is interested in what happens in the weeks and months after a mass shooting to stop by the table. Often, the news coverage ends after only a few days, but my work follows survivors long after the cameras have left town.

Could you please tell us something curious about you and/or your book?
In 2016, I took part in active shooter training at Furman University. For anyone who has never taken part in such training, the details are eye-opening! A few days later, I woke up in the middle of the night wondering what might happen if people followed those directions. The Stone Catchers is my answer.

Is this your first time participating in Kentucky Book Festival? If yes – what are you looking forward to the most? If you’ve participated before – what was your favorite experience at the Festival?
This is my first time participating, and I’m looking forward to talking to readers and other authors about the books that most excite them.
