Sky Watch: Chasing an American Saddlebred Story tells the story of the twentieth century’s greatest AmericanSaddlebred who overcomes injury, tragedy, and his fiercest rival to make history in the wild world of 1980s Kentucky showhorses. It’s also a chronicle of the way horses carried one rider back to herself in the face of recovery, growing up, andmotherhood. Decades after Sky Watch retired, author and lifelong horsewoman Emma Hudelson becomes obsessed withhis legacy. As she uncovers his history, she reclaims her own past–and looks to the future of the show horse industry.

Horse lovers, mothers, and women who want to claim their place in the world will enjoy Sky Watch. Could you please tell us something curious about you and/or your book?
I started riding horses before I could write my name, and started narrating horse stories for my mom to write down onconstruction paper for me soon after. Not much has changed, but I do my own writing these days, and usually onsomething other than construction paper.
Is this your first time participating in Kentucky Book Festival? If yes – what are you looking forward to themost? If you’ve participated before – what was your favorite experience at the Festival?
This will be my first time, so I’m excited to meet other authors with Kentucky ties and find some new favorite books.
